People often ask me why spirit guides don’t talk to them.
I really believe that they do, it is just that we have forgotten how to listen.
Think about your listening skills…
Often when we are in conversation with others, our idea of listening is to think about what we wish to say next to top their story.
We are thinking about our response and not actively listening.
Develop Your Listening Skills
One thing I have worked hard on over the years and continue to work on is to listen with my heart not my ears. Often the words that are said are what we react to.
If we had learned to listen with our hearts we would have heard a different message, a message from their heart, the one that was meant to be said.
Poor listening skills lead to lack of communication, (true communication), which causes so much strife in our lives.
How can we expect to hear the soft gentle voice of spirit, be it someone who has passed or our guides or angels when we have not learned how to listen to the people in our lives here?
An example of this is when someone gets angry and says something hurtful or something that is sure to push your buttons. Often we react to the words when if we listened to their heart we might hear them saying that they are hurting, in pain or feeling insecure.
I would encourage you to practice active listening. Seek to develop your listening skills.
Listen to the sound of your own voice. Is it gentle? Is it kind? How often does it complain? How often does it laugh or cry?
If you have never heard the heartbeat of your own soul how can you expect to hear the heartbeat of others’ souls?
I have found it helpful to become aware of the sound of silence. If we learn to be “at home” and truly put on our listening ears you will hear so much more.
Explore Your Listening Skills
Try this with the people in your life… Don’t just listen to the words coming out of their mouth; ask your heart what their heart is saying. The more you practice this the easier it will become.
This is truly good for you as well, as you will become less likely to react in a negative manner which reduces your stress, frustration, anger and a lot of negative energy and emotions.
Listening with our hearts is beneficial for those around us as well as our own health.
I wish for you a time of hearing as you will be amazed at what you can hear when you truly listen.
Love & joy, Karen Ellyard.
Soul MatesSo many people spend their life searching for the perfect romantic partner, when in reality I believe we have many soul mates. We come here with lessons that we need to learn and there are many souls that have agreed to be part of our life here to help us.

Hi there,
Yes, so often we are not aware of the gentle voices of advice and teaching coming through…..as we are just too busy doing or talking or asking, yet meditation has opened up a huge brand new world to me, and it has become my favourite time of the day………as it is so much nicer to receive!!!!!
Love and light to all!

Although I take time each day to ‘take-stock’, it’s Tuesday Night that is my favorite time of the week. I head along to a small psychic development class, which involves a dinner, a discussion, and a meditation. It’s the time each week I dedicate for listening with the most awareness

Listening for me comes through my body’s reaction – Which I don’t always fully understand. I.e. Hands, feet etc. I am being fed information all the time, I’m just not sure how to interpret this download when I listen?
Hi Yvonne, receiving ‘all the time’ can be very tiring! Have you tried setting parameters of ‘when and where’ you would like this information to reach you? Write it down, say it out loud – Just state it. Also, practice opening and closing your chakras, just so you have more control of your powers. And my only suggestion about interpreting the download … ‘How does it make you feel?’ Namaste, Nigel.
Excellent tips. Merely trying to hear my heart beat is taking me to a highly conscious and meditative state.
Hi Shobana, I know it’s cheating a bit – but when I go bushwalking, I power up a hill – and then stand dead still at the top. I can hear my heart-beat like a marching band! But I stay in that moment and ride the wave, seeing how long I can stay connected with it. Another reason I love bushwalking alone – in solitude. I’m sure the birds think I’m crazy! Ha-ha.
