Is our Destiny pre-planned or do we have choice?
Human destiny is an interesting topic to explore, as many people in their lives will wonder what the future has in store for them.
Generally there are two schools of thought on this subject.
One belief is that we create our own destiny with our thoughts, words and actions, moment by moment, each day.
The other school of thought is that our destiny is already pre-planned; we created it before we were born.
There is some truth in both of these statements.
We do have a rough plan that we create in the spirit world before we incarnate. We create a certain ‘set up’ or ‘mission’ we wish to achieve. We choose certain people to be with us in our lives. We choose our parents, to help us grow, to challenge us, and assist in fulfilling our lessons whilst on the earth plane. They also choose us, to assist their own growth and lessons. We also choose which country to be born into, and the different circumstances that present both opportunities and challenges.
We are also gifted with free will, to create the life we want with our thoughts, words and actions.
So while we have a rough plan, we are also creating our destiny each moment of each day.
As a human being you can create unconsciously or consciously. You can live by default or you can take control and create the live you wish. It all starts with a thought, or intent, which when mixed with emotion, becomes a powerful creative force.
We can create from a space of fear or love and compassion.
Many people have sought a psychic to assist them with direction in life and perhaps to have their future told. But the future isn’t set in stone. Whatever a psychic is seeing or being told by spirit are ‘potentials’. We all have energetic potentials, but these also change and manifest based on our thoughts, words and actions.
As an example, perhaps you had a psychic reading and the psychic said you would be meeting the love of your life. While this is possible, if you don’t take the necessary action to socialize and actively meet new people, it is unlikely they will simply knock on your door. Just because it has been foretold, does not make it certain. As a creative being, we have to take the necessary action to manifest our dreams.
We are collectively and individually creating our destiny each moment of each day.
If you find yourself in a situation you do not like, the best thing to do is to take responsibility for creating the situation and choose again.
Often the most painful experiences in life create the opportunity for the greatest growth.
There is light at the end of the tunnel! We are not simply victims of life, seemingly drifting though time and space. We always have choice; sometimes we aren’t aware of that, so we create by default. We cannot control other people, as they have their own free will, but we have choice how we respond and deal with them.
We are ultimately on this planet to grow spiritually. It is not an easy journey, but you will become a greater, wiser being than before you came.
I believe that a beautiful destiny awaits us, as we create heaven on earth. It requires work, but we are laying the foundation for a beautiful future on planet earth for the generations to follow.

Hi Nigel
Strangely, at age 88 next birthday (march), its something I never think about.
All options have long since run out at that age, and as a christian I believe its something that I leave entirely to God Himself.
I am aware that my entire life has been planned however, and that I have been guided and protected during the journey. I am still extremely active, I published two books last year, am involved with the Hospice Organisation, I still drive my car, and play bowls twice a week.
My destiny is to serve the Lord in whatever ways I am able, and I am happy at that..What happens tomorrow? Who cares…I leave it all to the Lord, He hasn`t failed me yet…and He is my constant companion through this complicated modern day life.
Thank you Nigel for that interesting topic,
In Love and Light
Geoffrey
Hello Geoffrey
What a dedication! I am approaching fifty and gone through lots of ups and down of life and I fully agree with you that our life is crafted by the unseen power which can be felt but can not be seen. HE is the ruler of our destiny. WELL WRITTEN AND WELL THOUGHT OF!
Warm Regards, URMI
I think the statement is true that is “Nothing is predestined”We choose to live the way we want.We have some effect of deeds of past birth. This isexplained very well in Sadguru’s book which I have translated in english…

I beg to differ. I do not believe unconsciously or consiously that we make the choose to live in an abusive home and/ or suffer to the break of insanity. Life experiences like that poke holes in the theory.
The law of karma says that we ‘reap what we sow’, which is basically sciences’ way of saying, Cause and effect. According to reincarnation theory, karma can be both good and bad, and if we have done something awful to another in the past, we must experience that same pain upon ourselves in the present. Only through this experience can be gain the compassion needed not to do it again, and be compensated for the injustice. The journey may even lead the victim to conquer their past and to help others on their journey out of victimhood.
If you don’t believe in ‘higher order’, then the key for those who have been abused or are suffering is acceptance. It is healthy for those capable to grieve and forgive and move on. The past can be mended through love and forgiveness and by learning better strategies of coping, thereby not choosing to experience further abusive situations.. For those whose suffering is huge then death can be a worthy choice.
hi Kelley, thanks for your feedback, you make a valid point. I have often questioned why we have to suffer so much, what is the point of it all. Please know that you are entitled to your beliefs and I am not trying to convince you one way or the other. You have brought up a good point and I want to explore it further. Spirit tells me that we have 2 perspectives, the human perspective and our soul perspective. From a human perspective things sometimes seem to “happen” to us and it is easy to feel powerless or a victim. Sometimes we can suffer due to poor choices we make from our free will, sometimes to balance karma or to develop compassion and so forth. Spirit says that we can grow through pain and suffering or grow through joy. From a soul perspective everything is in perfect order and we are choosing the experiences we experience while being human. It can be hard to see things from a soul perspective, especially when we are caught up in the drama of the event. Often though, if we reflect on what took place, there is often some positive benefit we gained from the experience. If we understand that we are on this earth journey to support and nurture our spiritual growth we have the potential to see things from a higher perspective.
Appropriately balance an skillfully writings of clarity for “Human Destiny” also we can agree that our maker is the ruler of our destiny. But my puzzle of wonder here is in the thought whether we were given the power to pre-plan our destiny “BEFORE BIRTH” but however the possibility, is a very interesting wonder… See at 25 there was nothing in this world i wanted greater than to be a Marine but i blew my last chance to enlist at 28… Later i realize that i was already in the Army of the Lord since i was a Little Cadet… P.S. therefore i must have given him my enlistment papers “BEFORE BIRTH”
Hi Kenneth, Thanks for your comments. Before we are born in spirit we exist in a quantum state and we are aware of everything. It is only when we are born into this world, the veil of forgetfulness comes into play. We are in fact our own makers, co-creating with God or spirit. We are here by choice to experience life in this dimension for our soul growth and to help the planet. The trouble is that sometimes we don’t awaken to why we are here and can stumble around in the dark. While we have a plan before birth, our free-will choices can always alter that plan. You can visualise it as intersection of many paths before you, and you have the choice which road you walk down. Depending on which road you take, will alter your life experiences, however all roads eventually lead back home or to source. With our free-will we are therefore the masters of our destiny.
